Generational Marketing #1: Mobile Marketing Trends To Reach Millennials

    Author

Millennials are a big crowd. Not only are they the largest generation since the baby boomers, but they are also in their buyer stage.

By the end of 2020, the millennial generation is going to spend the vast amount of $1.4 trillion annually or, better said, 30% of all retail sales in the United States. This means that business owners either begin to think like millennials or are going to risk falling behind.

In this post, we are going to take a look at the most significant trends that are changing millennial consumer behaviour and what are the most effective strategies that can be used to build a smart and fast marketing campaign for your business.

    Instagram

With a more visual format and more than 300 million users (more than half are within the millennial age range), Instagram is perfect for capturing your clients’ personal experiences in a pleasant way.

One of the best ways to take advantage of customer-generated content on Instagram is to post photos of your customers at the right times of the day.  This process is of mutual benefit to you and your clients. From the start, they will experience the emotion of seeing their picture in your feed and their account will get more exposure, while your brand will begin to relate to their audience on a more personal level, obtaining an inflow of fresh content.

    Youtube

YouTube is an incredible and famous platform for millennials. This group of people is currently looking for more content on YouTube and other streaming platforms. This massive culture shift means YouTube should definitely be a priority if you plan to make user-generated content part of your marketing strategy.

    User-generated content

When it comes to reaching the millennial consumer, your customers turn out to be one of the most valuable resources.

User-generated content is a great way to push millennials further down the conversion funnel, not least because they rely 50% more on digital media than any other form of communication. This is essential news for brands that either already has online communities, or are hoping to build one soon. Social testing is a powerful phenomenon, and sometimes your audience only needs to see your products in action before making the final decision and making the purchase.

    Influence marketing

Millennials are putting their trust in influencers on social media. 60% of millennials have said they are going to try a product suggested by a YouTuber and 1/3 consider blogging to be a superior means of communication when researching a product they want to buy.

    Micro-moments

Google defines each moment in which the user chooses a smartphone to learn, do, discover, look at or buy something as a micro-moment. Because on average, a person checks his smartphone 150 times a day, these micro-moments are happening in all sides, at all times.

This means that as a business owner, you need to start thinking about how to use your content to capture people’s attention at critical moments. Whether it is a video for YouTube or an informative article, you need to create a strategy to get your business to position itself in front of your customers when they feel the need to purchase any of your products and services.

    Mobile apps

Building a mobile app for your business can be a great way to do shopping, play games, use apps for your products a lot easier, especially for the millennial generation. Mobile shopping apps are quite a lot in this sector of the population – about half of 18-34-year-olds have downloaded a shopping app on their smartphone.

Even if you are just a little bit familiar with marketing, you know the habits, wants and needs of a particular market (your target market) is the most important aspect when developing your company’s strategy. And the generation of that market plays a huge role. That’s why it is important to work with professionals who know how to target the most relevant people. reach the right users at the right time, start now!
