App Samurai’s $250,000 COVID19 Resilience Grant is designed to build resilient startups that support the community during the COVID19 pandemic. The funding is aimed to help build the startups of today and to enable them to weather the storm of economic uncertainty so that they can become tomorrow’s unicorns. Eligible startups are those that promote mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.
The total funding amount available is $250,000. Successful startups will be granted up to $10,000 USD in App Samurai ad credit to go towards their user acquisition campaigns. We want to know how your startup is helping the community during the COVID19 pandemic and how the COVID19 Resilience Grant will assist your startup’s cause.
Full Eligibility Requirements
The App Samurai COVID19 Resilience Grant is aimed towards mobile and app-based businesses that positively benefit the community during the COVID19 pandemic. Other eligibility criteria are:
- Categories that benefit the community’s mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing – including Health & Fitness, Education, Streaming, Social Networking, and News
- Maximum prior funding raised of $100,000 USD.
- App Store and Google Play app review score with at least a 4.5 rating
- Between 10k – 100k monthly active users
- Startups that are the 20 most affected countries, according to Worldometers. Check terms and conditions for the full list.
Dates
Applications are open until July 10, 2020.
- The selection committee will evaluate all eligible applications from July 11 – July 26, 2020.
- All eligible startups will be notified of the outcome of their COVID19 Resilience Grant application on July 27, 2020, via their provided email address. A public announcement of the successful startups will be made on the App Samurai social channels and website on July 27, 2020.
Funding
Total funding amount available for eligible startups is $250,000 USD.
- Each startup is eligible for $2,000 – $10,000 USD. The total amount granted will be decided upon three criteria points by the selection committee.
- The advertising credit will be valid for two months after receiving the credit, in order to promote maximum benefit to the community of the startup’s core value.
Selection Process
From the pool of applicants, the most outstanding startups that benefit the community during the COVID19 pandemic and also have the greatest need for the funding will be selected. From this pool of successful startups, the funds will be allocated based on the following criteria:

- Need – the degree to which the eligible startups require the grant to keep the startup running and growing.
- Benefit to the community – the degree to which the startup is positively affecting the community mentally, physically, and emotionally during the COVID19 pandemic.
- Potential – the degree to which this startup is evaluated to be a successful unicorn in the future. Such factors to be considered will be – market, market size, competitors, scalability, existing monthly active users, existing resources, and numerous other factors.

Do I have to make a payment in order to utilize my awarded credit?
Absolutely not.
How will the selection committee evaluate the submissions?
The selection committee will evaluate all eligible entries based on the information provided in your application. The criteria the selection committee will be considering is need, benefit to the community and potential. Applicants may be contacted for further information if the selection committee thinks it will assist the evaluation process.
When will the selection committee let us know the result?
All applicants will be informed of your application eligibility prior to the evaluation period of two weeks. After this, all evaluated applications will be notified via the email provided of the outcome of your application.
Can I apply more than once?
Only one application per app is eligible for the grant. However, if you’re a startup with multiple apps, you can have one application per app, as long as it meets the criteria.
