UPDATE: Apple Has Delayed The iOS 14 Advertising Privacy Feature
Apple announced that it delays the implementation, including the feature that requires users on iOS 14 to request IDFA permission. Apple confirmed the delay.
The changes that will come with the update will be published with iOS 14, but the privacy feature and IDFA removal feature will be implemented in 2021.
Apple’s IDFA change has come under heavy criticism from many major publishers, especially Facebook, to reduce mobile advertising revenue. However, a new statement came from Apple, and it was stated that the new protocol and the ability to track users for IDFA will be delayed. Apple’s statement on the subject has been published. A brief explanation of the reason for this decision was also not neglected. The explanation is as follows: “We want to give developers the time they need to make the necessary changes, and as a result, the requirement to use this tracking permission will go into effect early next year.”
Apple has also released a new page explaining privacy details. On the page released Thursday, the page included the following information: “On each app’s product page, users can learn about some of the data types the app may collect, and whether that data is linked to them or used to track them. You’ll need to provide information about your app’s privacy practices, including the practices of third-party partners whose code you integrate into your app, in App Store Connect starting this fall”
If the removal of this change and data tracking feature were implemented immediately, advertisers and developers’ revenue would drop by approximately 50%. Apple is expected to begin implementation tracking changes in 2021, after the time it gives developers and advertisers to adapt and integrate with this change.
